“Hours-long subtitle work now done in minutes with AI technology.”
AI startup HiveMind (CEO Warren Kim) participated in the global startup event COMEUP 2024, where it unveiled its next-generation AI automatic subtitle generation and translation service, drawing significant attention from attendees.
Hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and organized by the Korea Startup Forum and K-Startup Promotion Agency, COMEUP 2024 was held at COEX in Seoul from the 11th to the 12th.
At the event, HiveMind introduced an innovative AI automatic subtitle generation and translation service tailored for individual creators active on platforms like YouTube and TikTok.
The service, developed in-house and based on OpenAI’s Whisper model, achieved 98% higher accuracy than the original Whisper, showing superior performance compared to existing solutions such as YouTube Auto Caption, Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, and ByteDance’s CapCut.
HiveMind CEO Warren Kim explained: “Currently, about 95% of YouTube content is produced by individual creators, but subtitling requires significant time and effort, creating a major bottleneck in efficient content production. Our AI technology shortens the subtitling time for a 10-minute video from 3–4 hours to just a few clicks in a matter of minutes.”
HiveMind’s AI subtitle generation technology also accurately recognizes mixed-language videos, including Korean and English, and performs excellently across genres such as variety shows, music videos, and films.
The service supports over 40 languages and 150 country-specific translations, offering optimal localization solutions for global content creators.
It also features an intuitive interface suitable for beginners, and will be available for free during its beta service period starting January 2024.
HiveMind emphasized that it has resolved the “hallucination” problem, a chronic issue in AI models.
Chief Strategy Officer Steve Jeoung said: “We applied our own advanced AI model to overcome hallucination issues. Our technology ensures stable subtitle generation even during brief pauses, background noise, or music playback.”
During COMEUP 2024’s “On The COMEUP” session, HiveMind actively networked with startups, investors, and global companies to explore partnership opportunities.
Recently, HiveMind also signed a strategic MOU with web novel distributor StorinLab, expanding its AI translation technology into various new domains. The company added, “Starting with improving individual creators’ production environments, we plan to introduce a wide range of AI-driven content services.”
